The Hawaii of Europe

The Western Frontier

Duration: 8 hoursShared
West Tour

Discover the wild and greener side of Madeira. This part of the island is known for its dense forests, dramatic landscapes, and quieter atmosphere. Compared to the east, the west is less populated, more natural, and incredibly scenic, with winding mountain roads, waterfalls, and misty forests. It is often compared to Hawaii, earning its reputation as the Hawaii of Europe.

This is an 8-hour tour, led by an experienced local guide, designed to give you a complete and relaxed experience of Madeira's west side.

Your day begins with pick-up from your hotel or accommodation, we then head towards the west side of Madeira. From the moment the journey begins, you will experience a constantly changing landscape, from coastal roads and dramatic Atlantic views to lush, densely forested areas and winding mountain routes.

Throughout the day, we will make a series of carefully selected stops at scenic viewpoints, natural spots, and unique locations, allowing you to take in the island's most impressive scenery at a relaxed pace.

You will travel along some of Madeira's most rugged and untouched coastline, where waterfalls cascade down the cliffs and the ocean stretches endlessly into the horizon.

As we move inland, the experience shifts into the mountains, where you will explore misty forests, open plateaus, and quieter areas of the island, offering a completely different atmosphere.

There will also be time to stop for lunch at a scenic location, as well as short breaks along the way to enjoy the surroundings.

At the end of the day, we make our way back to your accommodation, completing a full and unforgettable experience of Madeira's green and dramatic west side.

As with all our tours, the route may be adjusted depending on weather and conditions, ensuring you experience the best of the island on the day. This is Madeira at its most raw, green, and untouched, a side of the island that feels completely different, and truly unforgettable.
